Dummy Text Detection
Placeholder texts such as “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” should neither consume DeepL quota nor reach the shop. The plugin detects such texts automatically and does not translate them.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”- Configurable patterns under Settings > Dummy text patterns (one pattern per line), e.g.
lorem ipsum, dolor sit amet - Additional placeholders such as
placeholder textorexample textcan be configured - Matches and threshold: the text is analysed in plain text (without HTML). The share of detected dummy words is calculated against the total word count and compared with the threshold (Dummy text threshold %).
- Threshold
0: a single match blocks the translation - Threshold
50: the translation is blocked from 50% dummy word share
- Threshold
Behaviour
Section titled “Behaviour”- Detected dummy texts are not sent to DeepL and not written to the cache
- The affected content remains unchanged in the target language
- A match is logged as an error, so it is visible in the queue and the log
Typical Use Cases
Section titled “Typical Use Cases”- Demo or staging content that was copied into the production shop
